I think that this is a really good way to go. I'm sorry that I didn't even think of this prior. The idea of the plastic top and wood bottom would be less of a hassle worrying about it cracking. Also in this manner you would still get a quality sound, and being able to play on such a great instrument!! (YEAH YAMAHA)...sorry biased opinion.
