Well if you are serious playing the oboe, you might want to consider playing a wood oboe again. If you are not going to be playing outside either, then a wood oboe will be more beneficial if that is what you are used to playing on. If your spending range is a max of 1700, you should look into older used models of Loree, Yamaha (not sure how many are out there), Laubin. I wouldn't suggest getting the Fox, you will be unhappy with the quality of the instrument. I do not know much about the Renard, but the Buffet is not what you would want either. The only one worth looking at out of Buffet would be the Greenline, but I have never played on one of those either.
I play on a Rosewood Yamaha, and previous to that I played on Loree's, all Grenadilla. I got my old Loree (which I do not have anymore) for 3000, but I know someone that got theirs for 1500. I also live in Canada, and know for a fact that there are oboes out there for less than 2000, all wood. It's a buyers market (for anything in this world) and you have to keep your eyes peeled.
