Hi lien561
I'm going to have to disagree with KMahy a bit here, in that I owned the Renard 330 oboe for 6 years, and it's been nothing but absolutely phenomenal. I bought mine for $1500 used and my teacher said it's easily worth $3000. It's a very good quality instrument (or at least mine was...but every oboe's differnet) that has a raelly good sound for a plastic. While wood is obviously 'the way to go', if you want something that is less maintenance and will never crack, the Renard may be your best bet. If you are still looking for a wood instrument, go with what KMahy said (and I don't mean to bash her in any way here, she's awesome :D but I do have to say that the Renard 330 is really an amazing instrument!) but if you go for the plastic, I'd highly recommend the Renard.
Hope this didn't confuse you!
Graham
