You guys are funny!
I am not your normal beginning oboe player...
Honking? I don't remember honking since about day 2, and after about 3 weeks I was thrown into the local orchastra playing second chair and 1st chair in wind ensomble including second suite in F... hmmm...
Actually tone is evolving all the time, and reeds have been the major hastle... playing schedules are alittle crazy though, 3 groups 5 days a week practice. My instructor says that she has not seen someone advance this quick in a while, although I have A LONG LONG way to go (fast tounging is a challenge, think festive overture).
My embechure lasts about 1 - 1.5 hours right now if I take every other day easy. I can tell the tone quality between the good and machiene reeds and their construction. A few people have actually mentioned pro, but I am not pushing it, I am having fun. BTW in my life I have played everything but strongs, sax and clarinet. It seems like I have found my sweetspot at the age of 23...
Pro... pist... me, NAH! Expecially as I strugle with F - Eb - Db, expecially in the key of Ab, although the use of forked F is diminishing...
You know I can just thank the greenline!
Thanks again,
Mandy
