If it's just the tip, the only thing I can imagine is you're tonguing too hard. Have the reed as far out of your mouth as you can for control. Your tongue should only lightly touch the reed. A dry reed is very fragile. Make sure it's soaked for at least a minute or two. I normally just use regular cold tap water.
