Even with the information you've provided, this is going to be a "shot in the dark" without being able to look at/try your reeds.
That having been said, I would guess that your previous combination of a standard Ross gouge with a Chudnow S staple probably gave you very "live" reeds, with lots of power.
Your new Ferrillo machine is built for a more "covered" approach to playing, and may require a more flexible staple to match. Try switching from the S to Chudnow's CA staple. It'll fit on the same mandrel, so it won't change your tie length. The thinner walls of the CA staple just might give your lows the depth they're looking for.
Also, with your "wide-ish" Caleb -1 shape, I would try to keep the gouge as close to .60/.48 (measured at the edge of the shape, not the edge of the gouge) as you can.
