Hi everyone,
Some of you are speaking about hertz, but aren't you referring to cents? +- 3 hertz would be the difference between 440 and 443. Cents are the + and - you see on the tuner when set to a certain number of Hz.
Apropos the discussion at hand, I've always let my C crow sit slightly low and felt very comfortable there, but have discovered this week that a crow that is a really good 442 C (I'm playing at 442 now, which I dislike in fact quite a lot) works much better for me. This may be because I've started really blowing properly when I crow -- the way I blow when I play. Because the sound of the crow is very harsh to my ears, I used lousy breath support when crowing until I became aware that it was a mechanism for avoiding the pain to my ears. I realize now the importance of approximating the way I truly play when I crow.
