I prefer when it is little low. For me it is easier to rise the pitch than lower it or, more exactly be aware of that the pitch is not perfect when it is a little low.
My flute teacher prefered the opposite and when I played flute with her, we played at a little high pitch, which I took with me when I played amongst other people with other instruments. The high pitch nearly ended my flute-playing because I hate to play flute with a flute with a high pitch.
