I'm resurrecting this ancient thread of mine to announce an important discovery! Thread color affects tone color! This morning I carefully compared the sound of six or seven different reeds in my case to determine which I wanted to use in a concert tomorrow. I ranked them left to right, dark to bright. Lo and behold, the darkest sounding reed was tied in blue, and the brightest sounding reed was tied in yellow!
