Well, i truly believe that any musician, including a learning student, should focus much on musicality and musicianship. Its sad to say that too many people are just playing the oboe, not music. If you want to say teachnical wise, its too many things, including playing in tune with yourself or with an ensemble. Tone is a very subjective matter, but you won't go wrong once you listen to greats like alex klein, heinz holliger, ingo goritzski, hans de vries etc.
