Robin,
Excellent point. From my perspective, sharpening the reed knife is one of the more difficult reed making skills to learn.
I still try new things trying to improve that part of things.
Lately, I am using a Speedy Sharp after seeing Kerry Willingham's video of his sharpening technique.
Then a ceramic stick to set the burr.
