Cooper,

Interesting claims you are making about effects of void spaces within the oboe acoustic enclosure like the space at the bottom of reed well and in tenon socket. Actually it is logical and has theoretical basis (of oboe acoustics). I dabbled at it a little bit in my graduate school days, a very long time ago.

I notice the effects (usually on my right hand note or two) more when I use bright sounding French scrape reeds than when I use dark sounding German or American style reeds for some reason. The more I pull out the more pronounce the effects, which seems reasonable. That is the reason why I use pieces of tubing to pug the void area. I was wondering if you could provide reference to your claim, literature or specific experience.... Your Loree tenon and socket is a good one. I will keep that in mind.

I know this may not be an appropriate forum to go in any deeper than "common sense" level or something easily perceivable to amateur musicians. But, this is what we have, and I hope you are willing to exchange references and experiences.
