It is the same technique for making springs, only that springs need to be made with a hard wire - piano wire -. Jump rings are only one of the loops of a spring. The idea of a spring for the purpose we are talking about, is not a bad idea but perhaps is not practical because the compress spring might be too thick and make the oboe flatter than desired (unless it was a one loop spring). To have a better idea, these are two of the many websites. Let me remeind you that you do not need all that equipment to make a few jump rings, but watching the technique used is what is more important to solve the problem:
