I agree 100% on Eugene Izotov...America's best orchestral oboist. Greatest oboists in the world? In the U.S. Izotov and Ferrillo. Can't leave out Alex Klein. In case you doubt Ferrillo, listen to his Mozart Quartet, for me the greatest existing recording of that work! He needs to record more. In Europe, Francois Leleux, Albrecht Mayer, Stefan Schilli, Nicholas Daniel, Jonathan Kelly, Bart Schneeman in the current generation.

Funny...I think the Strauss is the greatest concerto ever written for oboe!
