Hello Steve,
I reckon you play short scrape reeds? I suggest buying a a Chiarugi shaper tip handle, and for the Rigoutat Riec, probably a narrower shape around the likes of Chiarugi/RDG/Rigoutat no.1, which are all very similar shapes. You could of course try the other fancier shapes, a million of them available in the market, but i don't think you will know what to chose before a few more years of experimenting and playing.
What staples do you use?
Why not ask your teacher? If you have a good teacher, presumably, imitate, and then along the line you will find your own way.
