First of all if you want to learn to shape your own cane you need two things, a shaper tip and a shaper tip handle. I would start off by finding out what shape the gouged and shaped cane you previously bought was shaped on. If you cant find the exact shape ask different vendors to suggest a shape that is very close or similar in dimensions.

There are many places to buy shapers and handles. I suggest Westwind Double Reed. Bob Hubbard makes his own shapers and has a large selection and is a very nice guy. He has everything from narrow to wide shapes and he lets you TRY the shapers out for 30 DAYS, with no restocking fee if you return the shape.
