i would highly recommend a wooden oboe, as the sound quality is simply much more resonsant, focused, intonation even, and most wooden oboes have most of the keys as a full conservatory.
Buying a wooden oboe with a plastic top joint to reduce cracking is also a very viable and common solution. However, I myself use an all wooden oboe.
and yes, a wooden oboe's sound is so much better than a plastic one
however, due to the price of wooden oboes, beginners tend to start off with plastic oboes.
