... my yamaha's low B-flat was very flat to start with, meanwhile my general intonation as a player has improved, my reeds are better, low C and B are flattish but can be lipped into tune easy enough, but that low B-flat is still way too flat and i can't bring it up enough any which way i've tried it, that note generally drops off the flat end of my tuner's scale
... well, i think i've tried everything with lip & reed, oboe position and air support, but nothing's doing it for me
yes, the bell joint's fully seated, so i can't shorten it a tad more by pushing it in any deeper
since low B-flat is all holes closed down, the note's coming directly out of the bottom of the bell itself ... could the bell itself be the problem?
Maybe 1-2mm's off the rim of the middle male joint might make a diff?
I'm wondering what else can be done?
... yeah, upgrade to a better oboe :-} ... but meanwhile, on current oboe i'm meeting more low Bb's / A#'s in exercises and pieces nowadays, so it matters if it's fixable or not
Suggestions, solutions, stuff a sock in it?!?
