Amen. I've been back to playing for about 15 months now and your comments really struck a chord with me. I upgraded to a better oboe and better reeds (although I'm still not making my own). With just these two improvements I am already getting compliments on my tone. I am really working hard on the other elements. For me the discipline of the long tones and the air control is the most difficult. I love the concept of using my hand as a reminder! Thank you and all the other BBoarders for all the good advice!
