 WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF IT EARLIER?
 
 Why not just play the solo on oboe d'amore?
 
 Instead of worrying about playing it in Ab minor, the d'amore part is up a minor 3rd and in the easy key of B minor!
 
 Now, just to finish rebuilding my d'amore and I'm SORTED!
 
 Here's the solo at figure 2 in the military band version, in the key of concert Ab minor
