Just had to jump in here. My Barret circa 1975 also shows the half rather than a dotted half being equal to 76. But what I really wanted to say was that I too felt like the C# was a better fit on the turn. Maybe it's all those years of listening to baroque oboe concerto recordings! I think that interval was just a commonly used convention in so much music that it just "sounds right" even if the instant composer did not intend it to be that way!
