Sounds to me as if a simple adjustment of the LH first-finger (half-hole) is all that is called for.
Screw it down so that it doesn't open at all. Now, using quarter turns, start opening it up, trying the oxxoxoC fingering. Once it is sounding roughly correct, make tiny adjustments until it sounds perfect.
