I guess it's time for the annual reference to the very informative and insightful article by Allan Vogel that ran in the IDRS Journal in 1978 ("French, German, and American Oboe Playing: Some Reflection on having studied with Fernand Gillet, Lothar Koch, and Robert Bloom").
