Hi Judy.

Allan was one of my teachers (many years ago!!) and is now a dear friend and colleague. What can I tell you about him? He is sort of an oboe maverick. He doesn't espouse any particular "style" or "school" of playing.
He does have a knack for bringing out the best musicality in any particular person, oboist or otherwise. He is a sublime oboist in his own right, playing with a wonderful shimmer to his readily identifiable sound and he is one of the most well rounded musicians I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. I had the distinct honor of playing principal oboe in the LA Chamber Orchestra for his recent performances of the Mozart oboe concerto. The man and his playing are truly inspiring!
