My teacher believes that the Loree is the "gold standard" of English Horns. (She's also a Loree oboe player, if that matters.)

I don't have one, so I don't know. I, too, would like to find a good used one. Peter Hurd at http://www.oboes.us usually has a few. You might check out his site. He's very good at communicating with you about his instruments.
