Dear all,
Hello! I'm new here and I'm glad to see so many oboe players and lovers here. =]
I would like to ask for your opinions on which brand to buy for an English Horn.
Here's a bit about my experience on oboe...Now, I'm playing on a Howarth oboe, and I do love the relatively darker tone of Howarth oboe. (So I think I might as well like to have an English Horn with a relatively darker tone. But I'm not so sure if 'dark tone' are preferred in most places...any ideas?)
Here are some names that some people recommended to me:
Howarth, Marigaux, Loree and Buffet Crampon. I would like to buy the top model/professional model for the English Horn.
Another thing I was thinking about is that...will buying a second-hand english horn be a wiser choice? Any suggestions on and reliable good second-hand dealer (online perhaps)? (I live in Hong Kong...that's in Asia. =] )
Please give me your opinions and I would be very glad and grateful!
