Does she have a private teacher? If so, ask him or her. Please don't buy anything without talking to your daughter's private teacher.

I have tried the Buffet 4052 and don't find it to be especially good, but not especially bad either. It's just a middle-of-the-road student oboe. For student oboes I think the Fox oboes are good. I've also heard good things about the Yamaha 441. Also, Loree's student model, the Cabart '74, is very good, but considerably more expensive than the student model Fox oboes. I don't know anything about the Bulgheroni or the Patricola instruments, are there any professionals playing on these?

Don't get hung-up on getting a wooden oboe. IMO, the dimensions of the bore affect the tone more than the material itself. Crack repair can be very expensive and even if it's under warranty it's a hassle to have to send the oboe away for repairs. And the sad fact is that most wooden oboes crack within the first year. I've been playing oboe for 30 years and almost every oboe I've owned has cracked. In fact, I heard a very famous professional say that she didn't think an oboe was broken-in until it cracked.
