J. I think you are giving some really good guidance here.
I would add a slight alteration in that after rolling in the reed on the lips, push the lips forward.
This is a new trick for me after many years of oboe, and honestly, borrowed from my flute study.
It seems to be a really good test of a reed. If the reed holds pitch while doing that extra push forward, it really plays well in tune all over the range and the tone remains full as well.
