I had the good fortune to try new Lorees, Howarths, Marigeaux' , Coveys, et. al. at the IDRS convention.
I tried synthetic models, clear 'glass', etc.
I really liked the Howarths a lot, among my top two choices. Marigeaux, Loree or Covey my other one.
And I could have recorded or played a concert on any of those oboes that same night. I was amazed.
Professionally I have only played Loree and Covey oboes and Loree english horns. Still love them both. On my 2nd Covey now.
And I am still impressed by the Howarths, I played new and swapped during sight-reading session to play worked in ones... all fantastic.
