I'm far from being a short scrape expert, but in my experience, playing on short scrape reeds forces me to take in more reed and even to apply a bit of bite pressure to get the pitch up to 440. From this, I've concluded that the reeds are engineered for such an embouchure. I too would be interested to hear if that's correct from any native short reed players.
