Try to avoid that, but do try to find a teacher as soon as you can so they can help you develop tone and correct articulation.

Are there any oboe teachers at the university (I see your ISP says Aberystwyth - we marched through the town one Sunday morning, waking everyone up along the way!)? Or any players in local orchestras or bands?
