Hi Chris,

I'm fortunate that you joined my beginner's quest :) . I have a question that I've been wanting to ask on the board, and I hope you might shed some light on it.

Do you think there are advantages or disadvantages when it comes to maintenance - comparing wooden oboes to composite oboes? I'm not sure how it works, but in my imagination it is as follows:

If you take off all the metal work and put it back on again, you put quite some strain on the material. I can image that you can't do that a 100 times over to a wooden instrument without taking off some wood every time and eventually killing the thread.

For composites, that could be worse or better, I couldn't guess at it all. I'm unsmart at anything when it comes to mechanics and materials.

Do you have experience or thoughts about wooden vs composites? If you or anyone reading this could reflect on it, I'm very curious to know.

Thanks,

Joepie
