Hello again everyone,

The input I have received from everyone has been helpful and I believe I have found the oboe that I will try first: a Malerne on the website www.music-oldtimer.com. I do have one reservation however and I hope that some of you might be able to shed light on this particular venue.

I received an e-mail from someone at the website (I inquired as to the possibility of receiving the oboe and having my teacher examine it for the appropriate keys and playability). The answer I received stated that there is no "trial periode" for the instrument and that it should be paid in full prior to shipping (which I intended to do in the first place anyway). I am going to contact them again as I feel he misunderstood what I meant by allowing my teacher to check out the instrument. I had no intention of keeping it for a long time and then seeking to return it.

My question: has anyone on the board dealt with this particular vendor and what kind of experience did you have? I've been saving for almost a year and do not want to waste the money on something that is a disaster in the making!
