I'll second Dutchy's mention of Nora Post. She helped me find the perfect used oboe for me and it wasn't what I thought it would be initially. I too was worried about the cracking issue and ended up with a Rigoutat that does not have a wooden top joint.

Regardless, I would suggest that you work with any of the suggested folks that are "oboe specialists".Everyone that I contacted during my search was very helpful and kind. They are more likely to pair you up with the oboe that works best for you and produces the sound that you like best.
