Around 20-35 celcius room temperature and very high, and typical asian tropical humidity from 70-90% humidity!

No there is not.

Sessions before i have usually soaked more than 2 hours and come to think of it, yes, this batch does not seem to have the color changed much at all!

I use a cutter to notch the cane vertically with the cane on an easel. So this should not be a factor.
Thanks everyone for the help, i think what everyone has said made a lot of sense. Elizabeth, i have had a teacher long time ago whom suggested that i do your exact procedure, but without the staple but the mandrel itself, maybe i should implement that once again. Thanks for the reminder!
