If I recall correctly, a number of the "standard" military-style marches (as Chris states) begin in Db, and then add one more flat in the Trio. "Rolling Thunder" is one that immediately comes to mind. When that appeared on our program roster a year ago, I basically faked it. It was all 16th note arpeggios. I did try to learn it as well as I could, but in the time allotted, getting it up to speed was just not going to happen. It was a good learning experience, though.
There are many more of these marches that begin in Ab, and add the 5th flat in the Trio. Those seem almost do-able, by comparison.
This is one of those things that, for me, gets easier year by year -- but not week by week. It takes a while to get these scales in your fingers.
