I too have a Rigoutat Expression oboe. I have not tried the Chudnow staple on this oboe. But I did experiment with cork staples and shapes.
The Rigoutat Expression has a larger bore than the Loree models. For example a wider shape works better. I found that the rdg -2 worked much better than the rdg 1. Other Rigoutat players say that wider is better.
A larger bore staple also works better. I ordered staples (cork) from Rigoutat and found them to give me a more centered tone with lots of core to the sound. I later discovered that rdg type II staples are identical to the ones I ordered from Rigoutat. You will probably have to buy a different mandrel.
With this combination, rdg -2 shape and 47mm rdg type II staples, I have no problems playing at A 440. There is a misconception that these instrument are sharp. I have not had that problem. I don't understand why they are so rare in the US. It is the best oboe I've owned.
