<<i like the certain qualities in two or more people's but when i hear my tone it is not qite there>>
oh dear, sorry to say you'll never, ever, get theirs ... their colour is their own
and so's your colour -- develop yours :-)
OK here's the way it is, how do your friends know it's you on the phone?
Your voice is you, and the way you sound on oboe is you too
But, like ohsusan says, there are things you might need to fix first with technical changes, such as playing too sharp or flat, too quacky or nasal, or whatever
<<when i listen i can hear things that i don't like, now what, how do i inflict a diff. sound to suit my preferance>>
So have you figured this out yet, can you describe what you're hearing and want to change?
These can only be fixed by figuring out what you want to change, and then add playing experience = lots of accumulated practice over time, exactly the same as getting good at video games or shooting baskets
Other possibilities
Posture might make a diff, always sit comfortably tall in your seat, so your airway is held as long and straight as it should be, doing this improves ... resonance
Not eating or drinking too much before playing might make a diff, because if there's a bulge in your tummy it's competing for space you need to work your air
