"*Embouchure* has to be well developed, which probably means not younger than 30 months of regular daily exercise (although possibly it takes a lot longer than that to reach peak perfection) so can expertly manage the reed consistently and sweetly at any dynamic for long periods of time. "
Hello, this is my first post. I started taking oboe lessons a couple of months ago though I have played the clarinet for a year or so. I must admit that I'm a bit discouraged to read that it takes 30 months to develop a good embouchure.
Perhaps for us beginners a better goal would be, "how long does it take to produce a useful, reasonably stable embouchure?" I can already play longer than I could when I started so I was hoping that, say after six months, I would be able do do ok. Does that make sense?
Thanks.
Cheryl
