My 2c...the Shalita book is the best thing out there, followed by Weber/Capps. The Jay Light book was probably great when it came out but really isn't a good beginner's guide in my opinion. Susan, if you check other dealers you might be able to still buy the Weber book (Ann Hodge or Charles, for example). When I bought mine, Weber was out too, but that doesn't mean some aren't still available from other distributors. I agree, learning to make reeds is an apprenticeship - you should get a few lessons from a real person. But these guides are very valuable.
