I have tried my d'amore bells on the oboe, and it did not make the oboe sound like a d'amore. Additionally it ruined the scale. Similarly I have tried my oboe bells on my d'amores, and they sounded horrid.
From time to time I use a Loree AK bell (with no resonance key) on my Marigaux oboes (I had someone enlarge the bell's opening to fit over the Marigaux tenon joint). It enhanced the fullness and loudness of the sound, though of course the intonation of the low B and B flat suffered (the Marigaux 2001 instruments use the resonance in the bell for both of those notes). For more nuanced playing, the original Marigaux bell satisfies me more. Formerly, when I played Loree oboes, I sometimes used a Decker bell (boxwood), which benefited the low notes in terms of response.
