Oboe Bells

I don't know how odd this question might be, but I've heard -- and I do not recall where -- that the bell of an oboe can have a significant effect on the sound of the instrument. Has anyone else heard that? If so, what effect can a different bell have on an instrument? Is it worth trying out different bells?
