I have used ceramic sharpening sticks with the same result for years.

I think I'll by the razr thingy though. Always good to try something new.

Ceramic also does not remove much metal, and getting the burr right for reed making is really not sharp as in for cutting meat, but crafted for wood working with the slightest touch.

I use hollow ground beveled knifes rather than razor styles mostly and for the razors I do have the ceramic is not as effective so far.
