As you mentioned, it's purpose is to "bend back the burr", not take off metal. But I have been using one for about four months now, and I have taken my knives to the sharpening stone maybe once in that entire time. The rest of the time I can get the burr I want with a couple strokes of the Razr Steel tool. I remember previously I was going through knives about 1 every 6 months or so. Now with this tool, it seems like my knives will be lasting me quite a bit longer.
