You are a peach. I hope everyone around you in your corner of the world is aware of that.
Problem solved--I went upstairs, armed to the teeth with tiny screwdrivers, tweezers, printouts, magnifying glasses, Sawicki, and whatnot; took the bottom joint over by the brightly lit window and peered closely at it; and, acting upon your teacher's advice, looked at the F# key, instead of the E key which I had assumed was the one that had the problem.
And lo and behold, there was a huge frickin' gob of lint stuck right down in the F# tonehole. Well, I whisked that puppy outta there with my tweezers, and was back in business.
Another dozen virtual roses for you (and your teacher).
Oboes are kinda like toddlers, aren't they? There's no telling what they're gonna come up with next. I don't remember seeing "check your tonehole for huge frickin' gobs of lint" in Rothwell or Sprenkle.
