anyway, in an attempt to manage that angry helpless ripped off feeling, why not try tucking some cigarette paper under the offending octave pads and use up all that hot-under-the-collar fiery dragon's breath to toast your bee-yoo-ti-ful baby, hopefully some excess sticky wax will melt down and blot off
... oh, DON'T open the octave holes during warmup, let them just sit and sulk on their diapers, only remove 'toilet paper' when oboe is really, really cosy in your hands, see what's what after that
... if you don't have cig paper, cooking parchment paper works too, or onionskin business paper
