Susan,

So interesting about Pablo Casals. Although he was probably superb with his cello many years earlier than his 90's, he still wasn't satisfied with his playing.

My conclusion is that we never stop improving on our instruments, but we may rich that point where we play adequately enough to play with other musicians who are still reaching for that certain perfection. I guess we are all adequate musicians (no matter at what level of playing) playing with other adequate musicians who are still striving for improvement. [rotate]

Isn't there a point when we can have some satisfaction with our musicianship?

My teacher has told me for months that I may never have the embouchure I want because it changes all the time....seems that it's elusive. Just when you think you've got it, something goes wrong with it and the game starts again of finding the correct embouchure. Wow. She says it happens to her now and then. I guess one can't feel too cocky about their playing ability on the oboe.
