... the Essential Elements 2000 Band Method (Lautzenheiser, Higgins, et al, publ. Hal Leonar Corp.) was my local school district's official band book here until 2 years ago, they've now switched to Standard of Excellence (Pearson, publ. Neil A. Kjos Co.)
At the moment i have the following 1st to 3rd year books in Essential Elements series, the ones readily available at my local music store, didn't purchase 4th year book that goes deeply into Jazz studies, as i wasn't ready for it at the time (2 years ago)
Essential Elements 2000 (plus DVD)
Book 1 - yellow top stripe
Book 2 - red (ditto)
Book 3 - blue-green (ditto)
Also in this series
Broadway Favorites
Film Favorites
Movie Favorites
Alas, none of these books have a complete series page, but google by series title, should be able to get more info online and find a supplier near you
Standard of Excellence was just being stocked up last summer at my local music store, so just now i only have the books available then, these being
Book 1 - red book
Book 2 - blue book
Festival Ensembles (practice with 2 other band members and choose who will play 1st, 2nd & 3rd harmony lines, all books same melodies but written for each instrument)
Festival Solos (i've greatly enjoyed working through these, most in 2 flats, some in 3)
There's also a green book 3, and instrument / director scores for specific band pieces such as Wyndham March (red), Barbarossa (blue), Three Chinese Minatures (green), and companion music theory & history workbooks in the same 3 levels. All pieces purchased separately, including CD's.
You can award yourself with accomplishment pins in this series!
Recommend shopping in mid-late August for best and most complete selection when the new band method books are usually fully stocked for the new season at participating music stores, otherwise it's more of a hassle with waiting period to get an oboe book later in the year
Hope this info helps
