>>Is it possible to make it still wet after 2 hours?<<
Well, you just have to try it and find out.
In many circumstances, I would say yes, it is quite possible. It depends on how tight your reed case is, the weather, and a host of other variables.
I will wet up several reeds in the morning, and even just leaving them out on my stand or in an open case, they will stay wet for an hour or more. As d-oboe says, you don't want them sodden -- just nicely damp.
The only time I ever had problems with moldy reeds was one time while visiting North Carolina. I had played, and then put the wet reeds back into their (plastic) case, closed it up, and tucked it into the pocket of my nylon-and-shearling case cover. By the time I got back to Ohio, the reeds were mottled with black mold, inside and out. Yuck! A fungus amongus!
Now, if the reeds are wet when I put them away, I leave my reed case open when I store the reeds for the night. If I have been at a rehearsal or performance, I make sure to remember to take the reed case out and open it up first thing upon arrival at home. I'm also using a wooden reed case now, which may help a little. At any rate, I haven't had any more nasty surprises (if you dont count reeds that turn into Frankenstein monsters all by themselves overnight . . .)
