Dear A --

One of the ways I have used to make sure I have a reed ready the moment I arrive at a rehearsal is to put the reeds in water for a few minutes, and then take them out while holding a finger over the open end of the reed. This results in a few drops of water being trapped inside the reed. You can put them in your reed case, and they will still be wet an hour later.
